Arcane Mage

The priority

1. Arcane Surge — when it is ready
2. Touch of the Magi — with arcane surge, or when surge is far off
3. Arcane Missiles — with clearcasting
4. Arcane Barrage — at 4 charges, with orb or clearcasting ready
5. Arcane Orb — below 3 charges
6. Arcane Blast — as your builder

Common mistakes

• Barraging at fewer than 4 charges.
• Sitting on 3 Clearcasting stacks.
• Using Touch of the Magi far away from Arcane Surge.

What’s simplified

• Each turn is one decision (about one global cooldown). Cooldowns and buff durations are converted to turns, so timing is approximate.
• Priority order follows SimulationCraft’s default priority list for this build, simplified to the abilities modeled here. Costs, cooldowns and effects come from Blizzard’s spell data. Rule wording is our own.
• Mana is not modeled. Arcane Charges cap at 4; Arcane Blast and Arcane Explosion add 1, Arcane Orb adds 2, Arcane Surge fills them.
• Clearcasting (free Arcane Missiles) is a 25% chance per Arcane Blast and stacks to 3.
• Cooldowns in turns: Arcane Surge 40 (lasts 8), Touch of the Magi 20 (lasts 8), Arcane Orb 10.
• Prismatic Bolt, Arcane Pulse, Presence of Mind and Evocation are not modeled.
