Reputation in WoW Forever: how to raise every standing

Quick answer
Reputation rises mostly by doing quests for a faction’s people, and sometimes by defeating their enemies or handing in items. Your capital cities climb naturally as you quest in their lands. Honored takes 10% off their vendors, and Exalted with a capital lets you buy that race’s mounts.
Key takeaways
- There are eight standings, from Hated to Exalted.
- Quests for a faction’s people are the main way to raise it.
- Honored gives 10% off that faction’s vendors.
- Exalted with another race’s capital lets you ride their mounts.
How does reputation work?
Every faction remembers how you’ve treated it. Your standing climbs a ladder of eight steps, and each step takes more reputation than the last. Most factions start you at Neutral; your own race’s capital starts higher.
Your character page shows each standing, how far you are from the next step, and what it unlocks. These steps follow Classic’s rules, which Forever is built on.
- Hated, Hostile and Unfriendly: they won’t trade with you, and some attack on sight.
- Neutral: 3,000 to reach Friendly.
- Friendly: 6,000 to reach Honored.
- Honored: 12,000 to reach Revered. Their vendors give you 10% off.
- Revered: 21,000 to reach Exalted.
- Exalted: the top, with the best rewards.
How do I raise reputation?
Quests are the main way. Every quest you turn in for a faction’s people raises your standing with them, and often with their allies too. Some factions also reward you for defeating their enemies or for handing in items you collect.
- Turn in every quest for that faction you come across, even the short ones.
- Look for repeatable turn-ins once you’ve finished their quests.
- Defeating a faction’s enemies sometimes raises it, but can lower the enemy’s standing.
Tip: Check your character page’s Reputations tab. Each faction there has tips for raising it.
How do I raise my capital cities?
Each capital rises from quests given by its people, and most of those are in the zones around it. Questing through the starting lands of other races in your faction is the most natural way to climb with all of them.
Higher up, each capital has a cloth quartermaster who takes cloth donations for reputation, which is a calm way to finish the last stretch.
- Orgrimmar: Durotar, the Barrens and the city itself.
- Darkspear Trolls: Sen’jin Village and the Echo Isles.
- Thunder Bluff: Mulgore, Thunder Bluff and Camp Taurajo.
- Undercity: Tirisfal Glades, Silverpine Forest and Tarren Mill.
- Stormwind: Elwynn Forest, Westfall, Redridge and Duskwood.
- Ironforge: Dun Morogh, Loch Modan and the Wetlands.
- Darnassus: Teldrassil, Darkshore and Ashenvale.
- Gnomeregan Exiles: gnomes in Dun Morogh and Tinker Town.
What about goblin towns and world factions?
The goblin towns of Booty Bay, Ratchet, Gadgetzan and Everlook work together, so quests in any of them help with all four. Defeating Bloodsail Buccaneers raises them too.
Later in the world, factions such as the Argent Dawn in the Plaguelands, Timbermaw Hold in Felwood and Winterspring, and the Cenarion Circle in Silithus each have their own quests and turn-ins. They offer some of the best rewards before raiding.
How do battleground factions work?
Each battleground has a faction for each side. Playing that battleground and completing its objectives raises it, and its rewards are made for PvP.
What do I get for reputation?
Honored takes 10% off everything that faction sells, which adds up on training costs in your own capital and on your first mount. Exalted with another race’s capital lets you buy their mount, whatever your own race. World factions offer gear, recipes and enchants at each step.
Tip: Get your own capital to Honored before you buy your first mount. The discount is worth it.
